Huntswood People – Regulatory Consultants
Within Regulatory Consulting, we work with our clients to help them understand and manage the effects of regulation on their businesses.
Drawing on the expertise of ex-regulators, career consultants and industrialists, we have the insight and experience to identify the real causes of regulatory issues and to design, test and deliver proportionate and effective end-to-end solutions. We believe that by addressing regulatory risk in the right way, firms and regulators can remove inefficiencies and barriers to doing business, ultimately affecting their performance, competitive advantage and profitability.

Why did you join Huntswood?
Having worked in large corporate consulting firms since graduating, Huntswood presented the ideal opportunity to put my consulting skills to the test – not only in terms of operating as part of a relatively discrete team at that stage in Huntswood’s growth plans, but also in creating the challenge of building up the practice. I wanted to work in an environment where I understood the direction of the firm and individually felt part of its vision and there’s nothing like the glass-fronted executive offices to remind you of that! Senior management don’t sit on the top floor where you don’t ever see them – they know each of us by name and value our input to their decision making.
What have you been working on recently?
In the past few months I’ve work on a range of client engagements across various Huntswood propositions and not purely financial services focused:
| •
Involvement in a "TCF MOT" assessment of an existing TCF programme within a major retail bank following a FSA visit. My role focused on the “sharp end” of the bank, analysing the extent of TCF behaviours, tools and processes on the front line across a number of distribution channels at various stages of the product life cycle.
| •
A review, challenge and refinement of an existing AML operational and systematic change programme for a major UK retailer of ISAs, savings and investments products involving outsourced front and back office functions.
| •
A review of the compliance framework of a leading global telecoms company by benchmarking it against “best of breed” risk management practices found in alternative industries.
| •
Work with a UK Insurance group on their MiFID programme covering a number of their businesses including an OEIC Operator and Pension Fund Manager as well as the Assurance Society.
What keeps you at Huntswood?
Working as part of a specialist, highly qualified Practice means the learning continues to get steeper – there’s never a dull day without a challenge and it's incredibly encouraging to know that every engagement we undertake adds to our intellectual property and methodology toolkit. Of course the people at Huntswood are also a key pulling point – I really enjoy working with each of them and the company has a strong culture upon which it stands.
