Referencing & Vetting
At Huntswood we apply a rigorous selection process to match the right resources to our clients’ requirements. In order to ensure that the people we provide to our clients are of the best quality, our resources are all benchmarked against industry standards.
Personal Checks
We will undertake a variety of checks to ensure that our contractors are ‘fit and proper’ to work in a regulated environment.
Credit Check
For our financial services clients it is an FSA requirement that all employees and contractors are credit checked, in order to demonstrate that adequate ‘fit and proper’ checks have been completed. Huntswood undertakes this check on behalf of our clients and will ensure that all answers are both truthful and accurate.
Please note that CCJs and bankruptcy will not preclude you from our database, however not being truthful about them might.
Criminal Records Check
On occasions we will require you to complete a basic criminal record check; this is on a project specific basis.
Five Year Referencing
All contractors registered with Huntswood are referenced for all roles completed in the last five years. Please note that this will also include checking any breaks in employment.
Business Checks
If you choose to set up your own limited company we will require copies of the following, if you work through an umbrella company they will provide these items on your behalf:
Limited Company Certificate
This is a certificate of incorporation which you receive once your company has been registered.
PI Insurance Certificate
Prior to commencing work on any of our projects we require our registered contractors to have Professional Indemnity cover in place to the value of £1 million.
VAT Registration
VAT registration is necessary only when you intend to charge VAT. It is subject to certain earnings thresholds and seeking the advice of an accountant is recommended to ensure you register at the most beneficial time for your company.
Business Bank Account
All contractors must provide a cheque / paying in slip to demonstrate to us, and the Inland Revenue, that all fees are being paid into a business bank account.
